Toilet bowl scratches from metal snake auger

We had an issue with my son's toilet and had to use a toilet snake auger to clear it. It has plastic to protect the bow but we obviously left greyish marks when we pulled the snake out. I take it we scratched the porcelain and was wondering if there is some way to clean this up?

Thanks

I agree, that's going to be a tough one to try to get clean again because you have possibly scratched the porcelain. No matter what you use it's probably not going to work to well depending on how deep the scratches are. If it's just marks left from the plastic/rubber guard, they should come out with a cleaner like bar keepers friend.

Try some bar keepers friend cleaner on it. It may help for awhile but the marks may return when the sediment/crud builds up in them, especially if you have scratched the porcelain. Available at any box store or amazon.

After the fact....but may still be relevant.
They make what is called an "auger mat" that sets in the toilet to prevent scratches.
You can easily make one out of a rubber door mat....should the need arise.....again

Ratherbefishing mentioned the marks were from the metal, not scratches. That was the case for ours when I messed up and let the auger scrape.

Mister Clean Magic Eraser worked instantly on the marks & they haven't returned. It's made of melamine shreds, so wear gloves. That stuff's sharp!

Bon Ami won't scratch the ceramic. It's not terribly aggressive of a cleaner, but may work.

Barkeepers Friend that Jmon mentioned is a super great cleaner, but I was afraid it'd leave fine scratches in the ceramic. (It might be fine to use. I'd ask the manufacturer.) I use their powder on all kinds of stuff. It's amazing.
