I have a 1 handle shower/tub combo with poor water pressure. Changed the cartridge - Delta post 2005 version which was previously in the valve. After the change only a trickle of water comes out of the faucet when turned on. When I use the diverter, after about 20 seconds, only a trickle from the shower head.

sounds like an obstruction somewhere.

verify where blockage is. Remove cartridge, hold bucket to divert water, have someone briefly turn on water to see if you have water pressure. If good water pressure, than problem lies with cartridge, valve or diverter.

Thank you for the response. I have checked the water pressure without the cartridge and there is a large spray that his the back of the tub. I am on hold with Delta for the second time. Updating with their first response in case it helps anyone with the same issue. They said to remove the cartridge and shake it. If there is no rattle, the balancing spool is stuck. Disassemble, pull out the spool, and reassemble. The rattle should be heard at that time, and this should fix the issue. He said this is 99% of the time the fix for this issue. Unfortunately, it did not fix my issue which leads me to believe my cartridge must be bad. I will update if there is any other recommendation beyond replacement.

Great. sounds like you got it figured out. Delta sometimes will supply the cartridge free of charge. Hope everything works out for you mmr, and you get it working again soon.

Thank you for letting us know the results.

If no water comes out, check shower water supply valve . If its a gate valve, sometimes they break or don't turn off or all the way on again once you use them. Just a suggestion.

My shower is now working so I wanted to update with the fix. I capped the valve by using the front half of the cartridge and turned on the water. I still only got a small stream from both the shower head and the spigot. (Delta said this proved the cartridge isn't the issue and showed that the Venturi tube was blocked.) I hooked the outside hose up to the shower head - removed the cartridge and back flushed the system. I then hooked everything back up and now have a beautifully working shower!

I want to thank you for posting this thread.

YES. it happened to us. And, after calling Delta, they said the last step is exactly what you posted :

1. remove the cartridge
2. back flush from the outside garden hose

My plumber didn't remove the little eye adapter assembly (looks like two eyes) because he said the water pressure should be pushed out by the water pressure. (but it wasn't)

I backflush the line twice, once without the cartridge, and once with the cartridge.
In the end, the water runs like crazy...I'm almost in tears. Before we changed the cartridge, I backflushed the faucet (with the old cartridge still in it). It didn't work.

So, thank you again!!! Thanks to my plumber who is willing to give it another try the next day.

Need HELP!
Delta cartridge RP46074.
Brand new shower system installed but trickle water coming out of the shower head and spigot. Flush the system per Delta instruction but didn't help. If i remove the cartridge water flows like a tsunami. Put a cap where the cartridge goes, water flows like a monsoon rain fall on the shower overhead and spigot (it can switch spigot to shower head). I replaced the cartridge with another new one but has the same issue. Please advise.
