HELP -- OTR microwave install NO STUDS

I have a 1956 prefab home and hanging anything substantial on the walls is a nightmare. Why? Because all of my interior walls besides the ones with plumbing fixtures are SOLID DRYWALL. No studs. Seriously. I'm talking 4 sheets of drywall glued together. I recently had to retire my old OTR microwave which had a mounting bracket that pretty much covered the entire width & height of the opening. Whomever installed it used a combination of screws and it seemed to hold up extremely well, I think because the bracket was so big and distributed weight well. My new OTR microwave mounting bracket is of course more of a thin bar placed at the bottom of the microwave. I know I cannot just put several screws in it & hope for the best. My kitchen cabinets are supported by furring strips & screws. I'm wondering if I should use the same method by furring out my microwave bracket and installing it that way. There are two bolts for the microwave that will go through the top of the upper cabinet but they're pretty cheap cabinets & I know that will not support the weight of the microwave alone but will act as more of a tilt stabilizer. Any advice would be much appreciated! I'll try to attach photos of my previous microwave bracket v new one & what my cabinets look like for reference. Thanks so much!
