My attempts to prevent another freeze of my sprinkler system failed. I go to open it up by opening the valve and BAM water comes blasting out from a crack in the pipe that looks to be in the section that has the valve itself.
I think I will have to close off the water to the whole house to make the repair
So to DIY, I think I should close off the other valve, the one on the horizontal pipe, then use some wrenches and remove the valve and some nuts and take it to a hardware or Home Depot? and get a replacement.
Is there a technique for removing the valve, because when I tried something like this before when I try to loosen one way it just tightened the other way.
