Yellow Jackets and Dealing with gap between brick / wood siding & missing mortar

I found yellow jackets going into a gap between a brick face and wood siding.* And between 2 bricks where I guess mortar is missing.

That long vertical gap - would you close that up somehow?* Or leave it be?* How would you close it?

And that small mortar joint gap (now stuffed with paper after spraying wasp spray in there).* Would you caulk it?* Making a batch of mortar seems overkill for that.* And me trying to get mortar in there would make a big mess : )*

There is a clean way to inject mortar in those tight places: use mortar bag, a squeeze bag shaped like a cone.
Clean off loose old mortar and fill with fresh mortar. Some of those spots are too large for caulking.
Caulk the smaller gaps, use colored caulk.
Looks like a good weekend project.

@dj3 - what type of motar would you get? This?

55 pounds seems overkll for this? I'd hope something with not too big particles? or is that concrete that I am thinking of?

I was thinking clear silicone - maybe lots of tubes, but just go down the gap between the brick / wood siding with the caulk covering the mortar?
