Would a 2x4 gable end ladder overhang work fine on 2x6 trusses?

Here's an earlier photo of my 12x16' shed build, before putting studs under the end gable trusses. I want to build a gable end ladder overhang for the roof on this and was wondering if a 2x4 ladder overhang would be fine for something like this, even though the trusses are made of 2x6s? Would a 2x4" ladder overhang that is a foot wide be strong enough to set a ladder against and walk on top of as long as it's well nailed and screwed into the truss? I'm guessing I shouldn't go further than a 12" overhang, is that correct?

Also, I'd prefer to install the gable end ladder overhang before I do the Smartside panel siding, but I should really do it afterward right, since the siding acts as a gusset on that side of the end truss? Any workarounds for that, and then I'd just put the siding up to the ladder overhangs rather than behind?

Here's a YT video showing the kind of gable end ladder overhang that I'm thinking of doing.

TIA for any advice you may have.

What is the plan for the soffit, bottom outside of rafters .

Ha, ha ... I haven't thought that far ahead yet. May leave the rafters exposed, but if it's easy to put a soffit board there, that would be good because then I could just run the SmartSide panel siding up to the soffit and not have to notch the tops of the siding panels to go around the rafters. What do you recommend that isn't too difficult for a DIYer to do?
