Wing nut stuck and can't get it off

I've been dealing with this issue for quite some time and need your help!
The wing nut (circled (brass)) is stuck and wont' move (even if the screws come out it is stuck to the pipe and sink faucet fixture).

The wing part of the wing nut is too big for me to pull out from the above (bigger than the hole in the granite) , and I cannot pull it down as the faucet handle above is too wide for the hole in the granite.

Ug! What am I missing? How do I get this wingnut sucker off?!?

Are you trying to loosen by hand?
There is probably some build up of corrosion, calcium and whatever else, so spray some lubricant and wait to give it a chance to penetrate.
Then, disconnect the flex on the side, and use basin wrench to loosen.
Don't forget to turn the water off.

Doesn’t look like a wing nut to me. Looks like it needs a large screwdriver that fits the slot properly. Maybe a screwdriver bit in a long extension, use an impact driver. Be sure the tool is set in reverse.

LOL - those are holding the faucet handle in place. When removed, here is what I have....

That's weird. You would think that it would just pop right out of there. Try some wd40 and heat from hair dryer and try tapping it out. If still stuck really good, maybe adhesive or silicone was used.

Is there any kind of threaded locking ring/nut you forgot to take off?

Hey JMon.
I tapped on the top center piece and nothing happened - it must be treaded somewhere but I think you are 100% right. Some adhesive/silicone have been used on the top (Chome).
It is acting like one piece with the attachment under the sink - no matter what I turn, it turns as one unit.

That requires a special spanner wrench that would fit onto the two holes where the screws were. Then the whole brass flange will turn off the faucet stem. You should be able to get basin wrench in there. If you're very careful, using a propane torch, heat the fitting then use the basin wrench. Someone must hold the top section from rotating.
