Im having a Trane C/A unit installed next week. The contractor gave me a price of $6000 for the series 14 unit 3 ton unit. After he did the load assessment his computer program stated that my house needs a 2.5 ton unit instead of the 3 ton unit. He called me a little while ago and told me that the price diffferent between the two is around $50.

I have no clue if this is right or if he is trying to pull a fast one on me. Can someone help me out with this?

granger

granger or grangier sells Goodman online, as do other online wholesalers. I would imagine their price difference between sizes should be ballpark for all manufacturers. Get a phone bid from someone else....they all want your business and would be happy to talk to you. I am in Austin and I have paid $1000 or so per install for whole systems about 3 times...that is just basic without the add ons like new larger lines or other stuff particular to your install that isnt baked in. So I think equipment is a big variable of the equation.
