What vin search websites are free and provide the most information. Im trying to check a couple cars i have vins history. My brother had bought a car with no title that was going to be crushed but when he did the vin search it was registered as stolen from states away. Im guessing possibly bought from a car lot and relocated to a different state before finishing the purchase of the car.

I always buy a Car Fax with any vehicle I purchase used. It gives a pretty good history, including recalls, accidents, precious owners, etc. When I bought my latest truck, a 2002 Ram, the Car Fax showed it still had an unresolved recall. I took it to the Dodge dealer and they happily did the recall fix, even though it was 20 years old.

Did you wait in the lobby while the recall or tsb was being performed or drop the car off?

Theres a tsb recall on the 2007 g6 about the shifter cable fracturing at the transmission end leaving it in gear.
I called told them it was my only ride and said i had to drop the car off i asked if they had a rental as its my only car and recall work takes forever a whole shifter cable replacement.

Theres also a recall on the 06 saab 9-5 about takata air bag recall could blow up blowing metal fragments causing serious injury. I read it was only a 10 minute recall and they could come to your house to perform the recall or go to the saab or gm dealership to have it done.

For some recalls that take more then 30 minutes they should offer free car exchange service. To me the recalls are a pretty big deal and it is their fault for not having done it right the first time but they want you to drop the car off to have the recall performed problem is its my only vehicle. Takes two people two cars to take to dealership drop it off and bring it back.

I would use the vehicle manufacturer's website as it will also provide information about any safety recalls for a particular model and year.
