Granted, LED displays don't burn, but the cable box has no idea what kind of TV it is hooked to; at least not yet. So power down protection was, and probably still is, a viable standard.

It's a wise man that changes standards slowly. Sometimes it takes several years to find out that "the latest" is not "the greatest", as with plasma screens.
True, but the thing that I am saying is put a off switch on the screen saver and leave the decision up to the tv's owner, and not to a software engineer who doesn't know who has what type of tv . I did suggest that to one of xfinity executives but is seem that he wasn't interested in my idea. Also GrayHair I have been watching CRT'S televisions since the 1960's and we never had a problem with screen burn. I wonder why it is suddenly a issue now? My son is a software engineer and I am a electronic technologist. Thank you for your reply. One more thing here is one of the people I talked to (Comcast executives and their title to contact:)
