Pictures, inside and out will be a HUGE help

 

My father in law just bought a house, there's an old barn shed on the property. He wants to insulate it and turn it into a lounge with a bar. He likes everything as cheap as possible, so maybe I can get some inexpensive ideas.

The old wood siding has some very small openings between the boards where I get see light shine through. Is there a sealant I'm able to put on the siding, inside or out, that can seal it from the weather, or any other ideas on how to seal the barn. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking a Board and Batten, would suffice.

That is where 1X2s are nailed over all the gaps between the wide boards.

Covering the gap, and allowing insulation to be sprayed into the interior cavities.

As for cheap, I have seen people stuff wadded newspaper, in those gaps, and cavities to " insulate" it.
