Uf wire cannot be used for pool wiring, the ground must be insulated, not covered like UF.

You would need to know the motor load to determine the circuit and wire size.

 

Is there a type of wire I need to get? Does it have a designation (NM, UF,etc.)

Which is the moter load? Keep in mind I am about as ignorant about electricity as can be. I can wire things up but find it incredibly difficult to carry on an intelligent conversation about electricity. I seriously need to know is it's volts, amps, etc. you need to determine the right size.

Is it safe to assume that I do need to run a seperate line for the outlet since the pump gets such a specific wire?

Do I need to ground the wire at the pump with a rod or does it still ground back to the house?

You need THWN conductors in the conduit.

This is SERIOUSLY NOT conducive to wiring a pool. This is NO place to mess around if you don't know what you are doing, even if you ask questions on an internet message board.

What about the required convenience receptacle?
What about bonding?
What about the twist lock receptacle and in-use cover?
Etc, Etc, Etc..............

 

I'm with Petey on this. Practice your do-it-yourself skills indoors, add a garage outlet or lights in your basement, but for God sakes leave pool wiring to professionals. The codes can be so complicated that even licensed contractors who don't practice the art get it wrong all the time.

 

I agree, pools are just not a DIY electrical project... You do NOT want to be sued in the unlikely event someone is killed.
