Hi,

I was thinking about using dow 795 to caulk in my shower (corian and standard porcelain coated tub), largely because I can get it soon in the color I want and potential longevity. Anyone know if this would be a bad idea for some reason? (My top priority is keeping the water out well and lasting as long as possible.) Will dow 795 cure smooth, or is it rough (i.e., going to be filthy and impossible to clean)?

What about tremco spectrem 2? (I could also get that and in a good color.) Better or worse than 795?

(I know cure time is long - that's fine, and spending an extra $20 or even $50 - i.e., overkill - doesn't bother me with all the energy that's already gone into this project. A downside of the GE silicones and most/all of the common "bathroom/kitchen" ones is they come in white and clear only, which would look awful here.)

Thanks.

The Dow will cure smooth. I have never used Tremco, so I can't comment on it. Your area will need to be absolutely dry, as in D-R-Y. If there is grout in the change-of-plane cracks now, it needs to be removed and dried out. Allow for full curing per directions and you should be good
