Hi, I had my concrete driveway and garage power washed and it was suggested to me to seal it...do you advise to seal cement and if so what products is best? The contractor was to use Thompsons clear waterproofing.

I know this is a DIY site and I'd do it myself except I have some injuries I'm nursing...I dont know much about this stuff and have
found I must do my homework when hiring someone as they tend to take advantage of 68 yr old women

Also the power washing removed the fill in the expansion joints of the driveway....is this normal? The guy that did it said yes it was old?
I've spoken to a few contractors and I've been given 3 options
Polymeric sand
backer rod then cement caulk
cement mixed with some kind of mortar mix

which is best?
And do you advise to seal the concrete garage and driveway?

Thank you so much… heres a few photos
As you see its in decent condition except by the grate… that needs to be patched.
The expansion joints do still have a little bit of dirt inside… Power washing, took care of most of it. The gap in some places is 3/4 of an inch and others about half an inch and it’s two or more inches deep.
I found a post on here by someone that said to use a product called TRIM-A-Slab for the expansion joints… Is that a good product or is it better to use Sika?

Driveway us about 80/85 ft long… so want to keep it in the best condition I can because to replace that is going to be MegaBucks

i was advised to seal the garage and all cement surfaces … is that really advisable?
.. I included the photo, however, that is before the power washing… The same with the cement patio in the backyard, that was Power Washed.

I was told that I should seal all cement surfaces…
Is that really something that’s beneficial?
