Router jig

When I first built a table I bought 2 routers one for the table and one hand held. We did so little hand held that it ended up being a spare for the table unit. I never have played with a plunge unit.

I'm not a big router user but somehow have three; one in a Sears table I've had for years, one in a table from my F-in-L and a small B&D plunge that I think the missus bought me not long after we got married (coming up on #37 soon!).

Simple jigs and guides made from scrap wood, either clamped or temporarily screwed can do wonders. I'm planning a project this winter where I need to make a bunch of mortises. I've done a few tests with a straight cut plunge bit and am quite happy.
My table is a steel table made out of angle iron with a 1/4" thick top that some one gave me I put a plywood top with Wilsonart laminate . I tryed a plastic table from Sears, it hit the trash after one use.
