It is all new so it should be fine but if you are worried about it. you can put tooth pick in the hole in the back board you are screwing into.

 

Drive it in little further and add one more screw. That should be fine for your stand. Driving deeper finds new fibers along the length of the screw. Or use size larger screw.

 

You could also go longer and/or bigger.

 

not a great option. I went with the longest/thickest screws I could use. (working with 2x4s and 2x3s)

Its pretty crowded as is, I can get an extra nail in, not another screw.

If this is going to be for a long term placement, use some construction adhesive in addition to the next larger diameter screws. Use the same holes … for cosmetic purposes.

To the outside of the joint? Absolutely not. Any adhesive, wood glue, construction adhesive, etc., has to be applied to the joining surfaces. If you want to apply adhesive you will have to take it apart.

 

I had to take apart part of a stand Im building, its held together with deck screws. Do I put the screws back into the original holes or will they be compromised?
