Hello all,

I am replacing the heater/blower in my Nutone 9965. I bought one on Amazon which says it’s compatible with 9965. I had to rig a bar across to mount it inside and some brackets.
Here is the question: it works, but the heat isn’t coming out very strong. On the website, it says there is a thermostat to adjust it. I can’t find the thermostat. Does anyone know where it is?
Many thanks.

If the link below is correct for the product that you bought, it shows “Volts: 120V, Amps: 0.9A”, so that would equate to 108 watts. The linked specification sheet below for the NuTone 9965 shows that it has a 1620 watt heater.

I was just wondering if there was some thermostat/rheostat on the device that could potentially increase its output.
The Amazon link reads "It delivers precise temperature control with an adjustable thermostat for ultimate comfort", which could be interpreted to mean that “if you were to add your own adjustable thermostat”. There isn’t anything in the photos or instructions available to me to suggest that there is a built-in thermostat. Does it say anything to suggest that in the installation instructions packaged with the unit?

Thank you for looking into this, Chris. Your interpretation of the Amazon description is likely correct. I will call on Monday to confirm. It came with exactly zero instructions. It wasn’t hard to install other than having to modify how it was mounted. I get frustrated with buying these appliances, 10 years later they don’t make parts for them. They just want to sell you another crappy new one they made in China. Ugh. C’est la vie.

Unfortunately, much of what is available on the Internet is at best misleading, as in this case where the part is listed as a replacement for the heater in a NuTone 9965 and that it might contain a thermostat, or outright deception, as in the subject named the same as your username.
