Refinish Laminated Table Top with water damage.

I have a dining room laminate table. It has water damage with the laminate slightly raised but a large area. Sanding would probably go through the laminate. What is the best way to refinish this? Perhaps MDF material. If so what thickness? How do you attach? Perhaps with bolts from underneath and glue. How is the best way to finish the edge?

Is that laminate or veneer? You can use a sharp knife, make a slit in the veneer along the grain so it doesn’t show, squirt yellow glue into the cavity, use a j-roller to spread it around and squeeze out the excess, cover with kitchen parchment paper and iron it down with a hot clothes iron. The heat will cause the glue to set up very quickly.
It is veneer. . Good catch
