Painting kitchen cabinets: What grit sandpaper should I use between primer and topcoat?

I primed my kitchen cabinets with BIN shellac six (or more!) months ago. I am finally ready to paint with SW ProClassic Waterbased Acrylic-Alkyd. I thought I should sand the cabinets again since I have waited so long after priming. What would be the best grit sandpaper to use? I bought 400, but would a lower grit help the topcoat to stick better? I am so worried about the paint peeling.

Get a very fine sanding sponge. Or a brand new green scrubbie. All you need to do is lightly go over the primer.

I'd use 180 or 220 grit if not using a sanding sponge.
IMO 400 grit it too fine for wood, only needed when painting over metal [like a car]

Thank you all. I appreciate your help. I sanded with 220 grit today. I should be putting on a topcoat tomorrow.
