I am shopping for a new HVAC gauge manifold and hose set for mainly occasional diagnostic and minor repair work on my own equipment. Are the generic manifold sets ok or should I pay significantly more and buy a Yellow Jacket set ? Also should I add on the hoses with the valves on the ends. (yes, I have the EPA 608 Universal Certification)- Thanks

If you were doing it professionally I'd say definitely spend more money or even go to digital system troubleshooting gauges with everything built in.
