Matching the drip edge to siding & trim

For a house with white trim, would you match the drip edge to the trim or to the shingle color? Long story below.

I had my roof re-shingled last month. I chose a shingle color to match the future siding I plan to get next year. Currently it's a taupe color and I want to change it to a light sage green. For the drip edge, I wanted to go with an off-white to blend in with the off-white trim and soffit color I have in mind. I showed the roofer some pictures with this color scheme. However, he was determined to use a dark brown drip edge. He said the drip edge is normally matched to the shingle color and not the trim (true?)

It looks good now, but I have concerns that when I change the siding and trim color, the dark drip edge will stand out against the white trim below it and make the edge of the roof look narrow. Hope that makes sense. Can a drip edge be changed later? Should I have stuck to my guns?
