I was wondering if anyone has had success in contacting Masonite Customer Service. I ordered 15 pre-hung 5-panel solid core doors and ALL of the prehung doors are total rubbish. Not only that but when ordering the build and ship time was supposed to be 3 weeks. After many deferments they came 3 months later.
Of the 10 pre-hung doors within my 15 door order for a house remodel all of the 10 pre-hung have issues with millwork quality and hinge function. Practically all hinges were routed with what looks like a blunt butcher clever, screws are off center from their holes and some at angles, routing for hinges is too deep 50% of the time requiring a shim to allow the door to close fully, others have no routing and the hinge is placed directly on the jamb. One jamb is separated along a seam in the middle of the jamb by the striker point. Several jambs are too tight for the door to close without hitting the side of the jamb (too tight) finish on a couple jambs is either missing or exploded by the router that set the hinge. There is rough milled edges down the edges of the doors as though it came off of a rough mill, several pins were installed upside down. The depths of the lock set striker varies by too deep to too shallow. Some have damage that was poorly covered up by globs of white patch. This is by far the worst millwork I have ever seen in years. The last doors I ordered were Jeld-wen and were clean and trouble free. Hinges flush and cleanly set. I had heard Masonite were better quality and the advertising claims to support this. Unfortunately now, after the order being postponed delivery for 6 weeks, I have a house that is under a deadline to be finished and don't have another 2 months for new doors. The cost of delivery and carpentry time has also added up.
I've tried to contact Home Depot and they gave me Masonite's Customer Service number.. even though the doors are only a week out of the store I am being sent over to the manufacturers Customer Service. Both HD and Masonite have done nothing. I've filled out the Masonite issue form and emailed it in and followed up with 2 calls.. No call back, no emails nothing.
Below is a link to about 30 pics or so of the doors. You will not believe the poor quality of these doors. It blew me away. And for them to ignore it is even more amazing. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can do next?
