This year, my local town issued a new ordinance banning the use of gas leaf blowers.
Electric leaf blowers are only permitted during fall clean up. During the other nine months, I can't even use an electric leaf blower for five minutes to sweep my patio - else risk a $200 fine.
I feel this ordinance was passed on ideological reasons rather than actual scientific reasons. For example, other gas powered tools are not banned, such as, snow blowers, chain saws, lawn mowers, masonry saws, power generators, air compressors, and hedge trimmers.
