Hey guys;
I have a Klein Tools MM700 which I purchased 2yrs ago.
I have been having problems with erratic readings when I use the included thermocouple.
I have traced the problem to bad contacts in the adapter which is inserted between the meter and the thermocouple.
The TC plug fits very loosely into the adapter. I used some Deoxit, and it did help, but I still get a bit of jumping in the readings when I wiggle the plug.
Honestly, I don't know why Klein designed it this way - why use the adapter, rather than a single piece thermocouple and plug? That's how the one on my MM200 works.
I can confirm that when I plug the TC from the MM222 (without adapter) into the MM700, it works fine.
My warranty was about to expire, so I submitted an RMA form to Klein and received an RMA to return the entire package.
But now, I checked Klein's website, and found that they sell a replacement TC for $18, which does not need the adapter; it's the same single-piece part used on the MM200.
I can buy that part on Amazon for $13, with free shipping. I can also buy a new adapter on Amazon for about $8.

Klein 69146 adapter: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B2T5HH3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
Unless there is a reason I should have the adapter, I am going to purchase the 69028 thermocouple on Amazon.
Even if I were to purchase the adapter, I have a feeling that the new one will have the same problem as the one I already own. I haven't used the tc much over the 2 years I have owned the meter, so I don't think that I did anything to damage the adapter or the thermocouple.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks
