Kitchen Pendant light. Where to install? What to install?

I would like to replace my wide pendant light with a more modern looking pendant. I would like some light to hit the ceiling if possible rather than just downward as it might make the room look larger at night. There are two wide pendants that hang over the counter. One hangs over the sink. And one hangs over the frig.

I don't plan on moving them, just replacing the pendant. I attached few styles to start the ideas. I would like to install brushed nickel which will match the ceiling fan I have in the room. The straightforward option is to replace all four with the same pendant.

Another option is to:
1) replace the two pendants over the counter with the new style pendants
2) replace the pendant over the sink with a recessed light or a flush type light or something not hanging from the ceiling.
3) replace the pendant over the frig with the same as #3

Any ideas on a good combination of lights or style that might work. Thanks.

Yes, the clear light was a concern. I have a four bulk light in the dining area that has clear lights and glass paneling that need to be updated (80's style). The light does not bother me. The bulb faces upward though you can see the light clearly. I noticed all the single pendants tend to point downward with clear lights/encasement. The light will be higher than my dining room light so it may not be an issue. If it was lower, closer to eye level, I would think it would cause some irritation.

I would use recessed lights over the sink. Pendants over the table. More than 1 location of pendants leaves the eye not knowing where to look and admire. 1 takes away from the beauty of the other. I think for sure the existing industrial shade lights are not a good fit for a modern room. So 1980's.
For the recessed lighting would I have to cut the electrical box hole wider or can I just adapt it to the existing electrical box hole? There is one light above the refrigerator. I would assume that could be the same type of lighting that will be above the sink.
