Does anyone know "How to disable a heating blanket auto shutoff feature" ? I have seen this already for the heating pad. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BwLHkQnkqs). But I am looking for something for a heating blanket so I can get some plants growing in the early March since I live in Wisconsin and I already have the pads but I need a lot more and I just do not see myself purchasing 10 of these for just one or two yrs. This is not a full time passion just a FAST help for my parents who only have a few more yrs and we are not that rich to just buy everything we need. Of course any ideas are more than welcome. Ed

Have you tried grasscity.com ? Those guys get cannabis growing from seeds using diasabled auto shut off heating pads all the time.

I would not mess with the safety feature by bypassing it!
Yes, it's only a shed, but if it catches on fire the fire dept will respond, and any time the fire dept responds you put the men and women at risk of injury or death, not to mention the public as well.

It happens- the fire truck T bones someone's car and the occupants in the car die, or they are unavailable to put out a house fire because they are 2 miles away putting out a stupid shed fire.
If the fire truck is heading to put out a major apartment fire that's one thing, but how will you feel if they were responding to your stupid SHED fire your neighbor reported that was caused by the electric blanket?
Not to mention your liability and insurance headache...

DONT mess with the blanket's wiring, get some lightbulbs if nothing else, a few 60 , 75 or 100 watt incandescent bulbs put out lots of heat, and I've used a 60 watt bulb for keeping puppies warm years ago.

I found a safe "work-around" for my electric blanket. I have foot neuropathy and by bedtime, my feet are freezing. I turn on the blanket to just under "high" at 7:00pm and when I go to bed around 10 or 11, I turn it off . . . for about 20 minutes, then turn it back on. It resets and I have 6 hours left before it turns off again.
Check the label on your blanket. It should tell you how many hours it is set for. If it is a 4 hour timer, it may be time to upgrade to a better, longer lasting blanket.
Note: I was told that the auto shut-off is not only for overheating the blanket, but, for over cooking the person under it. (although it is fair to say both are a good safety measure).

Although this is an older thread, it is still a very viable topic.
