Greetings from the U.S. Virgin Islands,

Due to electrical rates (.43 per kWh) we are changing to gas stoves.

We have two apartments side by side, the indoor space of one apartment can be piped using about 25' the other is about 45'.

Is it safe to run two stoves off a 100lb propane tank with a total of 70' of 3/8" copper pipe (also, if the tenants both use their stoves at the same time will there be an issue of supply)? Or should it be split into two separate systems? And if the systems are split can the systems be run off a 30lb propane tank each or do we need both on their own 100lb tank?

I appreciate your feedback.

At 70 ft, â…ś copper with propane is only good for about 21,000 btu. That's only good for a single burner on a single stove. Depending on the size of the range, you will be looking at â…ť or Âľ each. Given your climate, I would think 100lbs would be fine, but I would probably go with one tank each. You MUST use a 2 stage regulator for any indoor appliance for safety reasons.

You need to read the link provided.

Where I live running anything for an apartment must be stand alone. Can not share any utilities.

I offer this link as I bought most of my gas pipe from them.

Warning, you do not seem to have a lot of knowledge in copper gas pipe. 1/2 inch fittings do not fit 1/2 inch pipe. It is one of those quirky things you run into when your working outside your skill set. I know because I bought 3/4" pipe and had to get bigger fittings to fit the pipe. They accept returns and the CS people are fantastic if you just ask questions.
