Im working with 1/2" thick High Density polypropylene boards to make a portable laptop desk.

I want to stick some foam on the bottom. I dont want or need expensive HDPE glue. I just need it to stick enough to not fall off (its fine/ preferable if it can be peeled off).

Will any general purpose adhesive work?

I have acrylic caulk. silicone caulk, double sided carpet tape, contact cement, liquid nails, tacky glue, super glue, liquid nails, spray adhesive, pvc cement, gorilla glue, elmers glue, self sticking velcro etc. Most of it still sealed, I rather not break seals and spending a day testing all of them if anyone already knows it wont work.

If I have to screw it on, what sort of screw/bolt should I be using?

HDPE is going to be pretty soft, but it can probably take a screw. So then you could either screw the foam to the HDPE with fender washers, or screw a thin strip of something like wood to the HDPE, and then glue the foam to the HDPE.

If you want a stronger mechanical fastening, there are various types of threaded inserts available.
