gas pipe - to re-route or no

Hello all,
A few weeks ago I posted on whether I should re-route a gas line myself or hire someone to do it - and I decided hiring someone would be best.
Context: the gas meter is on the exterior side of my detached garage. It runs into the garage, up and around the ceiling joists, then back down and out and into the ground (see pics). I was concerned about having a gas pipe in the garage, as I have welders, torches etc and was thinking about re-routing it underground to the house (approx. 65 ft).

Well something interesting happened. A few companies gave me quotes - which varied wildly. And then a few companies mentioned that there is no need to re-route it. They stated that the gas line was in decent condition, had no indication of leaks, and that I was basically over-concerned about having a gas line in the garage. One even suggested that I could box the pipe up using wood, which would ensure it did not get damaged. It strikes me as really odd that company's vying for my money would recommend not to hire them - which is why I am coming to you all. I honestly do not want to re-route the line as I have many other costs to consider with this house (been here 30 days) - but I also want to make sure there are no safety issues. Check the pics and let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

The gas line is iron pipe. If you see the need, block around it to prevent damage. Some trades are honest, and it appears you latched onto one. No money in his pocket, but you will remember him should a need arise. It's called "futures".

Yup, I would have told you the same. I can't see many pipe supports. You may want to add some all-round to secure it well. Keep the outside portion painted. You can even paint the inside portion if you see it starting to rust. (usually not a problem inside but it's a garage so it'll depend on how you use it.) This is all DIYable.

Cheers!
