electrical outlet box installed in a wood wall

Are there any specific warnings or code particulars when installing an outlet box in a wood wall? The outlet will come through the wood surface of a wall of book shelves. But the outlet box and face of the outlet plate will not be in any actual book shelf but through a flat wood wall surface in between areas that indented in for shelves. Wood is obviously a combustable material, but I've certainly seen switches and outlets on wooden walls...

Thanks for your input cjp. I live in an old house from 1888 and though it's mostly modernized, there are a couple outlets in old wooden walls in the kitchen. I still may insert a drywall panel in between the shelf sections to just to keep the new work through non-combustable material.

Under the NEC, a box can be recessed up to 1/4" in a non combustible surface like drywall. In a combustible surface like wood it needs to be flush or proud of the surface to avoid exposing the combustible surface to an arc or spark.

Well, the shelves are going in and I've decided to actually insert a short panel of sheetrock between the shelf sections where the outlet will go. How much clearance would be advisable laterally to the outlet box for combustible material as that will be wood, unless I were to line even the insides of the space with sheetrock.
