Defeating defrost cycle - Amana fridge

I have a limited understanding of how refrigerators are kept frost free.

I have an Amana fridge model #DRB2101. Sometimes I am away from the cabin for a month or two at a time. It seems a needless waste of energy to have a heater come on, melt any frost, then cool down whatever was heated up. If the fridge door is not opened for many days, there should be little moisture that condenses and turns into frost, right?

Would it make sense to defeat the defrost cycle for periods when no one is using the fridge? Is it worth it? If so, I would like to find out how to do this.

Far more is wasted having a fridge no one is using even running while no one is there, empty it, shut it off prop the door open.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do that when I know I will be gone a long time. But I don't always know whether it will be a few days or a few weeks.

Cabin is out in the middle of nowhere in central Minnesota.

your worrying for nothing, a refrig that gets little or no use will use a very small amount of electricity on the defrost cycle. If the doors are not getting opened then very little frost will build up on the coils, the less frost the shorter the time the heater will be on. The defrost cycle is controlled by a defrost timer and a defrost thermostat. The thermostat controls how long the heaters actually stay on.
