Is there a way to repair this? I am hoping to resurface this countertop and would like to repair this first if possible? Thank you

It looks like the facia surfaces hang below the substrate. If true, that's going to be vulnerable.

I'm curious also how you intend to resurface laminate; permanently or temporarily. A new, custom laminate countertop is relatively inexpensive and the tech has advanced quite a bit. Our daughter has laminate and you have to look reaaaally closely to see that it is not stone.

Curious, do they laminate 'over' the existing, or does it need to be removed?

BTW, this may get better attention in the 'Remodel' or 'Carpentry' forums.

I wouldn't resurface either. I think min formica you have to buy is one sheet. Maybe half sheet used if there is building supplier with left over supply. For now, you can remove the edging with spray of brake cleaner, acetone, and nail on wood/plastic edging. Search online, homedepot example, for replacement vanity top with sink. There are many of them. Not the cheapest. Some of the cheapest are, I think, cheap plastic with cheap gel coating that will not last. Look for solid surface with brand name such as corian and cultured stone. Low quality, esp solid surface, may stain too easily and not easy to remove stains.
