Can't remove this faucet cartridge

Hi all,

I have a single handle tub faucet that has been kind of crazy with the temperature for a couple months (you have to turn it every which way until the water is warm). Now it won't stop leaking (don't worry I turned off the main water before I started). I've been looking all over the web for info on how to fix this, but all of the info I find says I need to remove a clip or a nut that is holding the cartridge in place. My faucet has neither. There is no washer either. Can you help me identify this cartridge and how to remove it? Thanks.

I do not recognize the brand---but I would guess that the large nut is holding in the cartridge.( right behind the white part)

Have you removed it yet?

Hi, thanks for answering

I tried twisting that nut, but it seems it's a part of the rest of the cylindrical silver piece. That's not budging either.

Soak it in penetrating oil (PB Blaster is good.)

That is what holds the cartridge in place---A plumber might be along soon that will recognize the brand--then you will be able to google up a parts drawing.

Really should be using a tool like this.

It works like a deep well socket.
It will allow you to but equal pressure on the fitting.

You are turning it counter clock wise right?

Okay I got this resolved now...I wasn't aware that I could call the landlord and he would send someone to fix it..thanks a lot though. A little embarrassing, but thanks. lol :bangin:

Oh yes, it's a cruel thing...the way life can cheat you out of keystrokes that way.
