We are remodeling kitchen. Counter will be beige dafne kalahari silestone slab only. No backsplash. I would like to use black granite 12 x 12 tile as a backsplash all the way up to upper cabinets. Cabinets will be hickory with a pretty natural finish. Black appliances. Too much black?

I probably would put a short backspash of the same color up as the counter tops.

We have hickory cabinets ( medium stained ) with it looks to be the same

color counter tops only in synthetic HI-max.( corian type )

Appliances are stainless/Black , and there are many under cabinet lights.

You want kitchens bright , to much black IMO but its your kitchen.

We just finished our kitchen and did a natural stone backsplash that goes up to the upper cabinets and up to the ceiling by the stove and sink. Cabinets are birch with a light cherry stain. The stone is beige/tan/some darker browns and it is as dark as I would go. In addition we added LED under cabinet light strips which lights up the stone and adds brightness to the kitchen, something the black would take away in my opinion.
Good Luck.

We remodeled our kitchen two years ago. We have natural hickory cabinets with a lot of random grain. They also have black satin crown molding and trim on bottem of upper cabinets with under cabinet lighting. Knobs and pulls are black as well. The countertops and backsplash are black granite with gold fleck. Appliances are stainless and black. Paint is Ben Moore HC-112 Tate Olive which is a fairly dark green. We also have a garden window to allow the south sun in, as well as 5 can lights in the ceiling. For me this is not too much black, too dark or anything of the sort. I think it's all about the contrast of dark and light. But, that's my preferance. Unfortunately cabinets, counters and backsplash are harder and more costly to change than paint. Try a paint that is of similar color to the backsplah that you are considering. that should give you some insight hopefully. Good luck.
