You can hardly beat drywall for fire resistant and cheap.

I was in Menards the other day and they had a steel siding intended for use as interior wall covering. You could put that over osb. I don't think osb is required but I would use it for "dent reduction" and to make it easier to hang things. Obviously a lot more expensive than drywall.

 

with the metal you could 'clean' it of fly specs and other stuff. IF you drywall it,you still need osb or plywood behind to hang stuff on!!

Thanks, figured on thin metal 2' strips around bench top hight. Majority of hot work will be outside under the drop shed, outside walls will be metal roofing and gravel floor so no fire hazard there. Inside will be some grinding, mostly machine work and hand finishing. Probably worrying over nothing, but mainly don't want dust to acumulate in rough surfaces. Even though hot work will be out side there will be the posability of fire from heat treat and solder/brazing. Also titanium dust can be very flamable and extreamly hard to put out, that's one reason I rejected particle board, too many nooks and cranies for it to build up in.

I installed the heavy 1/4" thick pre-primed pegboard on the walls of my 24x30 workshop/garage. Inexpensive, looks good, functional, and went up quickly.
