I need a 19 ft chimney liner for install so hopefully that should be sufficient for a good draft. I'm really new to this, but also have done a decent amount of reading / research.

If your existing chimney has a good draft I think you will be fine. Back drafts are usually the result of the chimney not drawing properly which is usually related to it not being tall enough.

Hey thank you for your review on the stove! I was starting to get cold feet because some of these older stove are labeled as, "smoke dragons" and I didn't want to spend $2000 on a chimney liner and installation and it smoke bad as well as not performing.

 

BeckyN, how is your Aurora wood stove performing? I just purchased a used one and I'm going to install it soon. I can't find many reviews on that brand unfortunately.

 

I'm not Becky. We had an Aurora fireplace insert that worked very well for a number of years. It saved us a lot of money before we upgraded the really old Iron Fireman furnace to a new 96% one.

Ayuh,..... In my experiences, wood stoves don't get painted, but rubbed with stove black,....
Wood stoves tend to run much hotter that a bbq grill, 'n the paint burns off, even the hi-temp stuff,.....

On yer stove, I believe the wood screws off the rod, 'n the rod stays with the door,.....probably welded to the tab on the inside,....

 

Image work for me. If you mean the wooden handled thing, it looks like the door lever. I'm guessing there should be a tab on the inside that is meant to rotate behind the frame or a catch welded to the frame. Take a look on the inside of both the door and the adjacent frame.

As far as painting, I haven't done it but would think any high heat paint would work. I know they come is spray cans-don't know about brush application. The trouble with spraying is you should really lug it outside.
