Attach gaming wheel to desk

Hello, everyone!

I recently got a Dynacom gaming wheel and I'm having difficulty attaching it to my desk. The wheel comes with 2 vice like things at the bottom that you're supposed to use to grip it to your desk (reference below).

The problem is that the edge of my desk is too tall and the vices don't have the height necessary to grip it. I'm looking for a solution where I can place my wheel on the desk and have it firmly attached without cutting the desk or attaching it permanently (ie: screwing the wheel onto the desk).

I thought about maybe suction cups? Not sure how I'd attach them firmly to the steering wheel and how they'd work on the grainy wood of the desk.

In any case, any ideas that you have will certanly come in handy and will be appreciated! Pleease let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks in advance!

Wow, these are great ideas! I like the second one, but I don't know that it'll be possible, as the clamps are not straight down, but they seem to have a gear inside. The first idea, however, sounds like just the thing! And I won't have to alter my desk, which is great.

Really appreciate the support and recommendations!!

It might be the camera lens but it looks like those legs narrow just where the go into the body. I can't tell how they relate to the hex nuts in the other photo/

Neil's suggestion might work but it's a no-going-back option. You would have to make the cut in a place where the mending plates won't interfere with the body, and with the webbing moulded into the legs, I wonder if it would tighten to be secure enough or just deform.

I'd be inclined to remove the leg assemblies and try to rig in some kind of j-clamp. Or clamp the console to a board then clamp the board to the desk.

I'm going to throw this out there even though you're probably not up for it right now in terms of money. I've been in your place, and even if you do get the wheel to stay still (which you might if it doesn't have much force feedback, in which case you might want a better wheel anyway), then you won't be able to get your pedals to stay in place, if they include any kind of realistic brake pedal with realistic force.

You could look at something like this.

Or better yet, something that connects your seat with everything else, so everything isn't slipping. It's a much more immersive system.

I sold my desktop wheel and couldn't be happier about it.

I got this reasonably cheap stand. Its heavy duty, does the job. Not easy to move around. It says 25 lbs, but seems a lot heavier especially with wheel and pedals mounted... I just race from my couch on XBOX. https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-F...=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9028279&hvtargid=pla-2207491517421&psc=1

You can get similar for $90 free shipping with prime. If I had a dedicated space, I would totally get a full cockpit, but that would be an extra pain to move around with my setup now.

Yeah, you need spare room for full rigs because they're not moveable.

I'm on PC. I tried Forza Horizon but it's just too open world for me. Also the driving physics aren't as good as AC, ACC or even F1 23. AC is kind of a crappy "game", but the physics and feedback of actually driving are great. I've been playing F1 a lot because it's a fun game (if you've seen the Netflix documentary, the game plays out a lot like that), and Formula 1 just feels great to drive. The only thing you don't feel is the G force of driving (which I hear is quite high and hard on the neck), but I have a bass shaker, and peripheral vision, so it seems pretty realistic. I can press as hard as I want on that brake pedal (which is a "load cell" so it's kind of hard to press) and nothing moves anywhere. The feel with a direct drive wheel and rigid frame is kind of addictive.

I was talking about the new forza motorsport, not horizon. FMS8 is basically a diet sim. It has a LOT of problems, but still fun. . Sweet setup you got. I was playing f1 a couple months ago, then got hooked on ACC. I was on project cars 2 before that. like I said, xbox is limited. I pretty much suck anyway, but its fun.

Hi all!

Solution found! I attached a board to the desk with 2 clamps and then the wheel to the board. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but it works wonderfully.

Thank you all for the replies and support! You guys rock!

Now onto some racing!

Found another attaching solution to consider if appearance is paramount .
I saw it on TV so it has to be true . Fellow attached his bar with it and did chin-ups . Twists to remove , re-useable etc. etc.
