I know not to screw vinyl siding on a wall. Luckily, I used Hardie on the walls anyway. Now I'm onto the soffits and I'm going to do them with vinyl. Can I screw the soffits since they're supposed to be snugger than if I were doing walls?
Thanks for the explanation, I never heard of it really. For one it doesn't oil can like aluminum does. Also some brands of coil I use are only in steel. I have a commercial portable brake so it not that hard to work with, I can also work roof metal in mine too. It does not rust when cut, has a galvanized base, plus I only cut it with snips or a shear, NEVER a saw.
Not at all, although I am not a fan of vinyl. When I am doing aluminum I screw though the back into the siding rather then nailing works pretty good. The siding is James Hardie. Do you think it will look noticeable or odd that it's vinyl soffits? I'm a little worried about bouncing nails and chipping the soffit if I go with Hardie. I'd be nailing into stripping in some of the sections.
