I haven't seen any reasonable pricesd on them

Installation is really simple.

The panels fit on the inside of the window sash (exposed to the inside of the home - not between the lites of the IG unit) using clips that attach to the sash and to the edge of the metal surround of the panel.

The clips and the edge of the panel are covered using trim parts that are included with the artglass panel.

I have seen a few of them installed and they really do look pretty good. The additional trim adds some nice depth to the window sash.

 

They verge on, obscenely expensive. Never seen a sale.

If you just want one, then I'd find someone who can do a custom stained glass design. If you want them all the same then that would be harder. But I'd still rather give the $$ to someone doing stained glass VS Andersen

 

WOW! Got a price from a builder supply place who deals in Andersen windows... My 15"x70" panels would cost $1500...EACH! I emailed the design and dimensions to an independent custom stained glass artist studio and asked them for a ballpark figure. They said due to the size, each panel would be at least $1200. Guess I wasn't expecting it would be that high. Looks like I have some stained glass classes to take this winter, and will do it myself!

 

oh man, i envy you!!!! doing SG windows is SO MUCH FRIGGIN' FUN!! you're going to love it!

I have actually wanted to do it for years. I bought the house a year and a half ago partly because it came with a 600 SF brick and stone "cottage" outbuilding I told people would be perfect for a stained glass or metal sculpture studio. Of course I have to renovate THAT building first then, if I want windows by next spring! LOL

Start watching Craig's List for stained glass supplies and tools. You might get some good deals, and you'll already have what you need when you're ready to start.

 

Great idea. In fact, Craigslist is where I am getting my casement windows where this stained glass wants to go. Am saving over $500 on this one purchase alone. I have used Craigslist for literally thousands of dollars worth of savings in the last 2 years alone. Love that thing, and check it every day for renovation supplies.
