Hello to all,
I have heard from multiple AC guys that restricting your airflow w highly rate air-filter MERV values is not good. It makes the entire unit work a lot harder, decreases efficiency and shortens the life of the unit.
For the last 2 yrs, I have bought and cut to size my air-filters. I have 6 returns, and the common width is 25", but the height varies among 4 of them. When I cut them, I have a lot of waste for varying sizes. Therefore, I am trying to determine if any of you have purchased the rolls of air filter and cut the height to spec? My coils keep clean too.
The ones I am using have a real stiff back w little 1/8" squares and a spun mesh front side. The stiff back goes in first and it's stiff enough to prevent collapsing or bowing of the filter. How do the rolls that you cut prevent the whole filter from bowing inward?
Anyway, trying to get some feedback from your experience air-filters and the rolls that you cut to fit.
Thank you,
tstex
