511 Water Based Impregnator Used On New Granite Kitchen Counter yesterday. After reading a statement on another website,

"Surface Treatment Technologies makes a solvent based sealer called SB. NO odor, very easy to use, competitive pricing, WAAYYY better than 511..."

I want to know if I can reapply a solvent based impregnator or sealer without removing the 511?

Is it easier to wait for 6 months and then to apply (no stripping involved) a new solvent based sealant/impregnator?

I also want to know where to buy the above SST products?

How long will my 511 Impregnator treatment last?

Is there truly a 5 year, or 10 year, or lifetime granite sealing/impregnating product or will I have to repeat the treatment every 6 to 12 months?

I live on the west coast of Florida.

Thank you.

You’d need to read the application directions for the product that you’re considering.

From what I can see online, the product was called “SB-Sealer”, from a company called “Surface Treatment Technologies”. The website shown here is a dead link, so it might be the same for the company.

There is a lot of conflicting advice about this online. This page seems to take a reasonable approach, explaining that whether sealing is required and how often that needs to be done depends on the granite itself. It also cautions against the downside of applying sealer when it's not required. We’ve never resealed the granite countertops in our houses (20 years and 6 years), but we chose really impermeable stone in both cases. In neither house was there any indication of staining, but we’re also the type of people who clean up spilled liquids.
