I need a saw that will cut steel bars off my basement windows. The bars were cemented into the house (its an old house)...so the best way to take the bars off is by sawing them.

What type of saw do I need????

P.S. The steel bars are approximately 3 centimeters thick.

If you're only cutting the bars a recipricating saw.
Sawzall is my favorite.

A reciprocating saw will work just fine. Just get a couple metal-cutting blades. You can get a recip saw for less than $100 these days, or rent one.

I prefer speed myself, a reciprocating saw will work, even a hacksaw will work. But to get it over with, concrete saw, less than two minutes, done.

I love using Zip-cut's......Dangerous and efficient!

They fit on a small buffer that you can buy for like 30 bucks.

A recip with a good bi-metal blade will cut a one inch bar in less then a minute.

Recip saw (often called a "Sawzall", which is a brand name), metal blade (blade for cutting metal)
The blades will even be labeled for different types of metal and speed vs. cleanliness of cut
