I dunno. My wife thinks we can do this (me), but I have never done anything like this before. She wants to turn a small inset in the wall closet into a walk in closet (see picture). Essentially turning that small inset closet into something like a 7 x 9' closet. So not even sure where to start. Done very very little framing, no drywall, and I just think this is beyond me. I want to hire someone, but before I do that, can anyone give me the list of steps to do this and what equipment would be needed? Maybe I can take a swing at it before I punt. For instance, would build out with 2x4's, and would use nails, yes? Like I am that much of a noob at this sort. Only framing I did was in a previous house, but that was in an unfinished basement to separate storage from the laundry area, so the fact it wasn't perfect didn't matter. I don't want to do a crap job and everytime I look at it I hate it. And I suppose it would need a centered overhead light. Never done electrical either. How long would it take someone capable to do? Maybe I can sell her on the fact it would take me weeks and weeks and weeks to get right (because could only really work on the weekends on this), and someone could do it in x amount of time if they knew what they were doing and already had the right tools.
