In all of the above, I see no reference to water pressure.

We're like 10 miles from the standpipe, and near the top of a hill. Our pressure is pretty low. The water company tested it once and said it was just barely above their minimum standard. I forget the exact numbers.

I'd be very reluctant to reduce the ID of any plumbing here, on the theory that it would really restrict the flow. But I've never actually done any research on that. If someone could prove me wrong, I'd love to hear it.
