OK ... so you guys have guided me along so far.
3500 sq ft shop ... 3 x 6 construction ... CDX plywood sheeting ... house wrap ... 3/4" strapping for a drain plane ... LP smart side board and batten (16" x 16' pieces).
I am just doing the final take off to get the material order in.
I thought house wrap would be the easiest part ... hmmmmm.
I have watched countless videos ... read a bunch of posts ... called the local suppliers ....
On my last house I used a woven product. Now I am told this is junk.
I was going to go with the old standard Tyvek ... then one person says use Typar to hold out the water better ... but another says it will rot, use Tyvek so it can beath.
I give, what house wrap should I use ?????
Also, with 16 ft walls, I need at least two piece. The video I just watched showed them taping the seam between the two. Is that correct or do I leave them open so water can drain if it get in ?
Same for the bottom ... open or taped (I see windows are to be left open under them) ????
Finally, tape ... what brand ... Tyvek .. Typar .... ?????
Opps ... last one ... flashing (wide tape for around windows, sill area, ....). My last builder just used left over "Grace water and ice" from the roof ... I think he may have even used some shingles when that ran out.
I see there is a Typar "Flashing Flex Roll" ... seems you don't have to cut it at the bottom of the window sill.
Is this best or ?????
As always, any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Mike
