Temporary power at every new construction site?

Never been to a site where the GC wasn't responsible for the temp pole. IMO, it is unheard of to require each trade to do their own. The only problem I have run into is the temp pole being placed an impossible distance from the site, sometimes 200 ft or more. Voltage drop will kill tools, so I check it before I plug in. Besides, having the temp so far from the site, you can constantly be running down and resetting the GFCI's. PITA.

I have the option of turning the job down.

It isn't doing any good that far from the house. We usually determine the location of the meter base from the drawings, have the POCO trench and lay in sufficient cable coiled up to make it to the meter base and set the temp pole much closer. You're gonna have to pay for the trenching eventually anyway, why not get it done once and be finished.

Not all temp poles are that far from the transformers and can be set a decent distance from the site.
