So, I have this small storage access door in an area that I'd like to creatively cover. Thought about putting a mirror or some artwork on it to make it a bit more palatable to look at...
I am having difficulty coming up with some sort of hinge that would allow the door to be opened that would also allow the mirror or outer panel to clear the door frame that it would cover. I've only been able to find swing-out, or offset hinges that might work (designed to effectively widen a door for wheelchair access), but they seem to put the barrel of the hinge out into the space that would interfere with the mirror.
The attached drawing may help explain my dilema. I'm showing some standoffs placed between the door and the back of the mirror to allow the mirror frame to clear the existing hinge barrel.
The other option I thought about was to have a separate hinge for both the door and the mirror panel, but I would want one to slide in tandem with the other so that I'm only opening one door. I've seen hinges similar to this in Europe, where they have a cabinet panel covering a refrigerator, for example. I have no idea what a hinge like this would be called, so I've not been able to find anything like this.
