Recently bought Ryobi (corded) 10A, RY41135. Gotten to the point w/ diagnosed chronic pain disease, that I can't stand cranking gas powered trimmers - including stopping to rest, which means more cranking. This Ryobi motor is very powerful. The bump & feed spool works, but doesn't hold much line.
It was loaded w/ (assume Ryobi) .08 round, VERY flexible line that wore out very fast, as many said.

FIRST, recommendations please, on what some users consider the better working & durable replacement heads. I'd probably rather have a head that uses fixed lengths of heavy line (.155), rather than bump & feed. I've seen a few fixed line length heads that "accept .95 line." If buying that style of head, isn't a main reason to use very heavy line that doesn't wear out as fast? In my experience, .155 line lasts much longer than .95" or even .105" line (if all are similar "quality").

I'm having trouble finding which (good) after-market trimmer heads will fit this Ryobi RY41135 (like Rhino Tuff, Gator, etc.). Some I've read instructions - don't list compatible models. The threaded bolt on end of Ryobi shaft is a 5/16" x 20 bolt.

The feed worked OK, but the combo of .08 line & maybe UN-tough line was an exercise in how to use up string like it's going out of style. They made the spool so nothing bigger would go through the center (side to side) of the rapid load spool w/o trying to drill the horiz., center hole. This Ryobi string head has ONE compartment for all string, increasing chance of binding.

Couple of brands mentioned they "fit select CORDLESS electric trimmers." I don't see much difference in this corded model's cutter attachment bolt & gas models, except bolt dia. The 20 TPI is very common.
Some aftermarket heads "installation manuals" mentioned having several "nut sizes" included, that slide into the molded plastic. They don't say what nut sizes & TPI are included. The Rino-Tuff Pivotrim has 8 nut sizes. but don't list them in instructions. Rino-Tuff Pivotrim Universal Trimmer Head-17093 - The Home Depot

I can't tell if the thread "nut" on the old Echo fixed string head will come out of the plastic holder & accept another size - 5/16". It doesn't appear to just be a nut, pushed into a hex shaped holder.
I assume it was an Echo head (I didn't buy it), but I saw no names. Might have a part # inside.

I never can get the spool rewound and have it work right. And i hate bump feed heads, they tend to scalpnthe grass when i bump. I bought a replacement head from eith HD or Lowes … i just looked at both sites but don’t see it at either place. Make sure it takes regular line, not some special precut pieces or plastic wings that you have to buy from the store. Mine has spring loaded grippers that take a wide range of sizes.
