Hey Jams,
Garage door openers are always tricky. Part of the problem is that every five years they make them a little different. I am from The Home Depot in Chicago and in my area it seems like everyone is upgrading their openers or trying to repair them. How old is your Stanley opener? Does it have the safety sensors at the bottom of the door? When it had a remote do you remember how it was programmed? I would check the wires running from the opener to the button on the wall. It could be as simple as replacing them. Or the mother board in the opener is messed up, in which case you will most likely need a new one. Garage door openers also come with pretty good warranties. If yours is less than ten years old I would check to see if it’s covered. Let me know what you are going to do. -Gregg
