I have a separate detached "cottage" on my property which I use as a shop; in the past it has been used as a guest bedroom. It is equipped with bathroom, shower, sinks, tile floor and drywall. When I am not using it, I have used a combination of the existing mini split and two baseboard heaters to keep the temp inside at 50 degrees or better.
Unfortunately, that tactic wasn't enough to protect the plumbing from the East Coast blizzard and long stretch of temps in the teens. Pipes froze, and the plumbers even believe the supply line from my main residence to the cottage froze as well.
Their recommendation is for me to place a space heater with thermostat in the crawl space. I'd estimate there is about 1200 cubic feet of space. Anyone have any recommendations?
